When it comes to exercising your legs, you may focus mainly on your quads and hamstrings, but don’t forget out your calves. Having strong calves is vital to having fit and healthy legs and body.
While wearing your baby in a baby carrier facing either inwards towards your chest or outwards, but centered on your body, stand with legs and feet shoulder width apart. Slowly rise up on the balls of your feet, bringing your heels off of the ground. Hold this position for one second, then slowly lower your heels back down. Repeat.
After your next stroll around the block, finish up by boosting your leg muscles to help jump start your metabolism. Use these baby wearing squats before or after the completion of your stroller walk to tone and slim legs while building strength.
While wearing your baby in a baby carrier facing either inwards towards your chest or outwards, but centered on your body, stand with your legs shoulder width apart and toes facing forward. Slowly bend your knees to lower your body like you are sitting in a chair. Make sure to keep your chest upright and do not allow your knees to pass over your toe line. Slowly rise back up by straightening your knees to the starting position, then repeat.
If you’re aiming to tone and tighten your abs post-baby, this exercise is perfect for you. It’s a great way to target those stubborn lower abs while having fun doing it! This exercise is best to perform with an older baby who can sit up on his own. If your baby is still too young to self-support, use a dumbbell instead.
Start by sitting in a straddle position on the floor with your baby in front of you, at an arms length distance, facing toward you. Seat your baby on cardboard or a material that slides easily on your floor’s surface.
Here it is- Joey’s very first modeling gig. No, I am not working on making him a baby model (I don’t think he would sit still long enough for it), but he was a great partner in shooting the exercise images for my newest book, Walking The Weight Off For Dummies, which is released this coming Monday!
Throughout the book, I discuss the various ways your can easily walk off pounds, lose inches, and shed belly fat. And with this, I devote specific chapters to special conditions and how walking is best suited for each condition (such as heart disease, diabetes, etc). So of course I wanted to devote a full section of the book to walking during pregnancy and after childbirth. Joey’s role was to help show various ways to walk of the pounds after your baby arrives to get back to your pre-baby weight and body. He helped to demonstrate Mommy & Me exercises that can be done while walking as well as exercises that can be done with the stroller. It was cold outside when he did the shoot, but he was a good sport. Luckily, thanks to our fantastic photographer Kristen Rath Photography, and my wonderful fitness models Pat and Alyson, we had his photos done in less than a few minutes and back inside in the warm house.
I’d say for his first modeling gig, he did a great job!
